Women & Words was started in 2003 by Sheila Irani and a group of women who loved to read and whose mission was to present an event where women's words and achievements are honored. They created a literary event that promotes women authors and inspires others by donating the proceeds to women's and children's charitable organizations. Since 2004, Women & Words has raised almost $30,000 for charities such as Children's Law Center, Penny Lane, Women's Care Cottage, Westside Children's Center, Children's Institute Inc., Children's Hospital, WriteGirl, Echo Center for Parenting Education, and Reach Out and Read.

The Beverly Hills Literary Escape is an exciting weekend of unique events designed for the discerning reader. Offering insider access to the country's most sought after authors amid the luxury of Beverly Hills, BHLE presents an intersection of literary culture and entertainment filled with great food, wine and, of course, books. Akin to European cafe culture and the days of the Algonquin Round Table, The Beverly Hills Literary Escape gives participants "green room" VIP access to leading authors in intimate settings and trendy venues.

    Outside of Society

A deformed child pushed out of her village discovers a life of unimaginable magic. An orphaned young man sprouts wolverine claws on the edge of town. In visceral, modern fables, Marisa Silver (Little Nothing) and Stephen Graham Jones (Mongrels) spin fabulous tales of outcasts who harness the power of transformation to shape their own destinies and identities.
